China’s leading mobile vendor was caught in a marketing mess; the company posted a shot on its Facebook page allegedly taken with the Huawei P9 camera to show how good it was compared with the DSRL. Although, the company didn’t claim the image was taken with the P9, it didn’t leave trace of denial, however.
The caption read;
The #HuaweiP9’S Dual Leica Cameras Makes Taking Photos In Low Light Conditions Like This A Pleasure.
The image EXIF data revealed that the shot was taken with Canon 5D III camera which had a 70-200 F2.3 L series lens.
Ouch….
That said, after seeing the after effect, Huawei released an apology;
It Has Recently Been Highlighted That An Image Posted To Our Social Channels Was Not Shot On The Huawei P9. The Photo, Which Was Professionally Taken While Filming A Huawei P9 Advert, Was Shared To Inspire Our Community. We Recognize Though That We Should Have Been Clearer With The Captions For This Image. It Was Never Our Intention To Mislead. We Apologize For This And We Have Removed The Image.
It won’t be surprising when users begin to act super-curious when they see bogus claims like 23MP shooter, 3-day battery life and all kind of marketing gimmicks.
